About College
The Ramaiah Medical College was established in 1979 with the vision of providing quality education to all. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka and is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
The college has spacious class rooms with Wi-Fi facilities and well equipped laboratories. The college hospital offers teaching to undergraduate students and interns. It also offers training to postgraduates during MD, MS and MPT. The Hospital houses all super specialties where DM and MCH residents get to practice. The college has huge auditorium to conduct seminars and medical campus. The college has sports complex with gym facilities to encourage students. The college has separate hostels for boys and girls. It provides transportation facilities for both students and staff.
Central Library at the college has repository of books, bound volumes and periodicals, accessible to students, residents and staff. The Library will provide electronic access to various full text articles through RGUHS HELINET Consortium. The central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROM, online e-journals and e-books, audio video cassettes, books, back volumes of journals, thesis etc. The library collection also includes a large section of expensive reference books and collection of books for SC/ST students.
The ALC focuses on hands-on training and workshops where students are taught Basic and Advanced Surgical Skills. The college has two operational labs. At Medical skills lab, Postgraduates, undergraduates and nursing students are taught the basics of surgery, Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and other skills, through mannequins, models and simulation techniques. Cadaveric Research and Training lab, prepares and hosts cadavers that act as ‘near-life’ specimen. This helps postgraduate and medical professionals hone and advance their skills.
The Integrated Museum is designed to foster collaborative learning between the multiple departments. Students are given the opportunity to analyse a patient body right from the symptoms to the treatment in a replicated clinical setting. This facility is also used to complement the practice of integrated teaching.
