Maharashtra Common Entrance Test
MHCET or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is conducted by the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education), Maharashtra for admissions to first year B.E/B.Tech programmes in the state.
The exam was last held in 2013, after which it was scrapped and the admissions to the above programmes were done on the basis of JEE Main. It has comeback from 2016, thus replacing JEE in the state. As per the information released on the official website, MHCET exam will be held in May .
MHT-CET consists of three question papers. All the question papers are of multiple choice type( four options with one correct choice).
Each paper will be of 100 marks and 90 minutes. Take a look at the break up below:
1. Paper I :- Physics & Chemistry (50 questions each)
2. Paper II :- Biology (Botany & Zoology – 50 questions each)
3. Paper III:- Mathematics(50 questions)
Please note that there is no negative marking in MHCET

Syllubus for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test
In MHCET, the syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics will be same as for HSC Examination of HSC Boards of Maharashtra.

Eligibility for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test
Interested candidates should be an Indian National They should have passed/appeared the HSC (Std.XII)Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They should have secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND obtained a non-zero score at MHT-CET.
Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Application
To register for MH CET, candidate has to visit the official website and do the following:
Click “MHT-CET Registration” and fill-in the online form.
The information to be provided includes personal details such as name, email id, mobile number, course, etc.
Candidates then need to upload a recent colour passport size photograph and signature.
Applicants will be prompted to enter his/her valid email id, mobile No. and a password on the first login and these must be carefully noted and retained for all future correspondence with MHT-CET Office.
Applicants are required to upload their scanned (digital) recent colour photograph and signature, whose size should not be more than *50 KB per file. The online application system will not allow to upload files larger than 50 KB. Please note that the Photograph and Signature should be only in “Jpeg” format and file name of Photograph and signature should preferably be photo.jpeg and sign.jpeg respectively.
While uploading the photograph, students must take care of following points:
Take a recent colour passport size photograph against a light/white background. Make sure the face on the photograph is clear as the application might get rejected.
File size of the photograph should not be more than 50 KB per file, otherwise it will not be allowed by the System to upload.
To reduce the size, candidate can crop the image of their passport size photograph in MS Paint or any other Photo Editor.
While uploading the signature, students must take care of following points:
The candidate himself/herself should sign (no capital letters) on a white paper with a black ink pen.
They must then scan the signature in 200 dpi (dots per inch) scanner resolution settings and the file size should be less than 50 KB in jpeg format.
To reduce the size, applicants must crop the image of the signature in MS Paint or any other Photo Editor and ensure that only the signature portion is cropped and not the entire A4 paper. Once the Photograph and Signature is correctly uploaded, candidates can proceed further to generate the bank challan for the payment through ‘State Bank of India’.
Candidate has to download and print the MHT-CET bank challan on an A4 size paper. Make sure the bank challan has the MHT-CET-Registration No., Name of the candidate, Date of Birth and date of registration printed on it.
The bank challan will be in two parts. Applicants need to take this bank challan to the SBI Applicants need to pay the fee within 48hrs of registration. Please note that this amount is not refundable.
On making the payment in cash, the bank will enter the date of payment, Journal No/Bank Transaction ID, Branch Name & Code and put a bank seal on each part of the bank challan. The bank will also retain the Bank’s copy of the bank challan with them and return the other part of the bank challan to the candidate.
The candidate needs to visit the official website of MHT-CET using his/her MHT-CET Registration No and password after 24 hours of making the payment to confirm the Bank transaction ID No. and date of payment.
Click on to generate MHT-CET Confirmation Page and save the information for future use. Take a print out of the same to complete the registration process.
